Heritage Trail restoration work starts Monday

Starting Monday, May 12 AEP crews will begin restoration work along the Heritage Trail to prevent power outages and protect the power grid. The project involves clearing around high-voltage transmission lines, with the trail closed in sections from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, for several weeks, weather permitting. Detours will be signposted, and the trail will remain open evenings and weekends. AEP will replace removed invasive species with native pollinator gardens and donate some trees and branches to the Columbus Zoo for animal enrichment.
